We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Pre-School Room Leader & Third in Charge to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this dynamic role, you will lead a dedicated group of early learners, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes their development and curiosity. As a key member of the leadership team, you will support the overall management of the preschool room and co-ordinate with management, uphold high standards of childcare, and inspire your team to deliver exceptional educational experiences. Requirements
- Hold a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification recognised for working within the Early Years.
- Be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
- Hold a valid Paediatric First Aid qualification or be willing to complete the training, which will be provided by the nursery.
- Be willing to undertake Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training and maintain up-to-date safeguarding knowledge in line with statutory guidance.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of the EYFS Statutory Framework, safeguarding responsibilities, and Ofsted requirements, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and education.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily activities within the pre-school room, fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere for children’s growth and learning.
- Support the management team in implementing curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff and assistants, promoting teamwork and professional development.
- Ensure all health, safety, and hygiene policies are strictly followed to maintain a secure environment for children and staff.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about children's progress, needs, and daily activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as maintaining accurate records of children's development and attendance.
- Drive responsibilities may include transporting children safely to outings or appointments as needed.
Skills
- Proven management and leadership skills within an early years, nursery, or preschool setting, with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
- Extensive experience working with children in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), supporting children's learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework, Ofsted expectations, and national childcare standards, with the ability to maintain high-quality practice and ensure compliance.
- Confident understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, including recognising concerns, following reporting procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and promoting children's welfare in line with statutory guidance.
- Excellent understanding of child development and the ability to plan and deliver engaging, child-centred learning experiences that meet individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and inspire colleagues while promoting a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate observations, assessments, learning journeys, attendance records, and safeguarding documentation.
- Confident in implementing health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and hygiene standards to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Valid driving licence preferred for transporting children safely on outings where required.
- Passionate about early years education, with a caring, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children's development and preparing them for school.

Pay: £26,626.60-£35,620.00 per year
