Baby Room Leader – Level 3
Elizabeth Saunders Nursery, Hutton, Preston
£14.00 per hour
£750 joining bonus
40 hours per week, 5 days
Permanent
Are you an experienced Level 3 Early Years Practitioner ready to take the lead in a small baby room? Are you looking for a nursery where you can spend more time doing what you came into childcare to do: working with children?
We are looking for a Baby Room Leader to join Elizabeth Saunders Nursery in Hutton.
Our baby room cares for just 9 babies, so this is a hands-on leadership role in a small room where you can properly get to know the children, families and staff you work with.
We are a family-run nursery group with a friendly team and a well-resourced setting. We want our Room Leader to have the confidence to take ownership of the room, support the team and help create a calm, caring environment for the children.
This is not a role where you will spend your day away from the children. You will remain hands-on in the room while leading the team and helping to keep standards high.
We have also recently reviewed the way we handle observations and paperwork to make sure there is a sensible balance and practitioners still have enough time to work directly with the children.
What we offer
- £14.00 per hour
- £750 joining bonus, paid in three instalments
- Permanent, full-time role
- 40 hours per week over 5 days
- Small baby room with 9 children
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
- NEST workplace pension
- Uniform provided
- £300 employee referral scheme
- £300 child referral scheme
- Opportunities for further progression across our nursery group
The role
You will lead the day-to-day running of the baby room while remaining actively involved with the children.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting the baby room team
- Helping to keep the room calm, safe and well organised
- Providing warm and attentive care for babies
- Overseeing feeding, sleeping, changing and daily routines
- Planning and supporting age-appropriate activities
- Making sure observations and records are completed properly
- Building good relationships with parents and carers
- Supporting and guiding other members of the team
- Working closely with the Nursery Manager
- Following safeguarding procedures and nursery policies
About you
You must hold a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with babies or young children
- Is confident supporting and guiding other staff
- Is reliable, calm and organised
- Communicates well with parents and colleagues
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and the EYFS
- Enjoys being hands-on with the children
- Is ready to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a room
Previous Room Leader experience would be an advantage, but we would also consider an experienced practitioner who has already taken on additional responsibility and feels ready for the next step.
Come and meet us first
Changing nurseries is a big decision, and it can be difficult to get a proper feel for a setting from a job advert.
If you are interested but would like to see the nursery and meet the team before applying, you are very welcome to visit us first.
Please get in touch and we can arrange a suitable time for you to come in, have a look around and meet the people you could be working with. There is no pressure to apply afterwards.
If you are already working in another setting and considering a change, do not let your notice period put you off applying. We are happy to wait for the right person.
We are recruiting now and would like the successful applicant to join us as soon as possible.
All appointments are subject to safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and verification of qualifications.
