Our beautiful Chalfont St Peter practice in Buckinghamshire has the opportunity for a vet who is looking for a first opinion GP position, on a part-time basis.
Your average 20.12 hourly week is inclusive of a 1:3 branch Saturday morning, and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota d to 1 bank holiday per year in Mandeville Hospital.
There are NO on-call requirements.
Chalfont St Peter has 3 consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards and is in a peaceful, picturesque village location.
As well as being equipped with everything you would expect for a large branch, Chalfont also has ultrasound facilities.
The practice has very bonded clients, largely insured and for those invaluable breaks when the sun makes an appearance you have a huge garden and decked out area to have some me time.
You will be working alongside incredible long-standing vets, an amazing senior RVN, experienced nursing and reception team and an invaluable regional manager who have all worked in/with the practice for years.
The Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides out of hours support for Chalfont. It has state of the art 24 hr facilities including CT, an excellent ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and an array of specialists.
As a branch veterinary surgeon, some of your duties will include:
- Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
- Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
- Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
- Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
- Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
- Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment

£22,635 to £36,216 (£45,000 to £72,000 FTE) dependent on prior experience and allowing room for further growth and personal progression within the role.
