DN Colleges Group is seeking a passionate, supportive, and enthusiastic Functional Skills Maths Lecturer to join our welcoming Functional Skills team on a fixed-term maternity cover basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in learners' lives by teaching Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level to Level 1 across a range of further education programmes.
You will play an important role in helping learners develop their mathematical skills, build confidence, achieve their qualifications, and progress towards their future goals. Working within a collaborative and supportive department, you will contribute to curriculum development, lesson planning, assessment activities, quality assurance processes, and the effective delivery of learning programmes.

Contract Type: This is a fixed-term position until November 2027
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inspiring Functional Skills Maths lessons to learners from Entry Level to Level 1.
- Plan, prepare, and develop high-quality learning materials, schemes of learning, and lesson content.
- Assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback, mark work, and maintain accurate records of achievement.
- Support the management and quality assurance of learning programmes through effective assessment and learner support.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of our Maths provision.
- Support course verification, course leadership activities, and programme coordination where required.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment where all learners can thrive.
- Participate in professional development, performance reviews, and mandatory training to continually enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support departmental objectives and learner success.
- Relevant experience teaching GCSE or functional skills in the UK
Essential Criteria
- Level 5 teaching qualification, substantial industry experience, or willingness to work towards an appropriate teaching qualification.
- Relevant subject expertise in Mathematics.
- GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths at Entry Level.
- Demonstrable ability to plan and deliver effective lessons using innovative and engaging teaching approaches.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices, and the use of ICT to support teaching and learning
