Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Part-time Chef to cover 2 full days (99% of the time this will be Monday Tuesday) for the head chef’s days off and or holiday cover at the pub. Simple pub grub, fresh and traditional with a small menu.
This role would be ideal for an experienced chef who doesn't want to work any weekends (at least not often) and who can work alone and to a good standard of food.
The kitchen is well equipped and the menu small and simple. We also own another venue and there could be holiday cover there where extra hours can be picked up.
Happy to do self employed/invoicing for the right candidate Provided they have a the correct paperwork.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Assist in menu planning and food presentation to ensure visual appeal and quality
- Supervise food production processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency
- Manage kitchen operations during shifts, including overseeing food safety and hygiene practices
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely service and smooth kitchen workflow
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Support in training new staff members and fostering a collaborative team environment
- Serve food to customers when required, providing excellent customer service
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Supervising experience or team management skills are highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods
- Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate team members
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and quality control
- Prior experience in hospitality or restaurant environments preferred
- Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
