We are looking for a reliable, hard-working Kitchen Assistant to join our small team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our kitchen, supporting our chefs by keeping the workspace clean, organized, and stocked, while assisting with basic food preparation.
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong teamwork skills, and is eager to learn the ins and outs of a professional kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Assist chefs with basic prep work, including washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing simple sauces.
- Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain high standards of hygiene Sanitize workstations, cutting boards, and kitchen equipment regularly.
- Inventory & Stocking: Help receive deliveries, check stock freshness, and ensure ingredients are stored correctly according to food safety guidelines.
- Waste Management: Dispose of kitchen waste safely and promptly.
- Team Support: Assist the chef with any ad-hoc tasks during busy service periods to ensure food leaves the kitchen on time.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting is preferred but not essential.
- Stamina & Pace: Ability to stand for long periods and work quickly and efficiently under pressure during peak dining hours.
- Attention to Detail: Deep understanding of (or willingness to learn) food safety, hygiene regulations.
- Communication: Clear, respectful communication skills and a team-first mindset.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including, weekends, and holidays.

The hours will be to assist the chef during busy times. You will need to work weekends and bank holidays with your days off during the week.
This is a seasonal position that will end towards the end of September. We would be looking to cover 14 to 21 hours a week and shifts are only during the day where the shift starts at about 9:30am to 4.30pm or could be slightly earlier if it was to fit in with School times. But would include working through the school holidays. There are no evening shifts.
Please Note: This job is located in Horning NR12 8AA. You will not be able to rely on public transport to get to horning as the busses are very sporadic at best.
Pay: From £13.50 per hour
