Job Role: Generator Service Engineer (Onsite Maintenance & Field Support)
Location: London - M25 Corridor
Contract Type: Full time / Permanent role
Hourly rate: Up to £22.00 per hour - Annual earnings in excess of £65,000
Working Hours: 08:00 - 16:30 Monday - Friday + On call one week in seven

We’re partnering with a leading power solutions provider to recruit an experienced Generator Service Engineer to join their growing field service team. This is a customer-facing role, responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance, call-out response and remedial work on a wide range of generator equipment.
Generator Service Engineer Role Overview
As a Generator Service Engineer, you’ll be providing onsite technical support to customers, diagnosing faults, carrying out scheduled and reactive maintenance, and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard. You’ll work independently in the field, representing the business professionally at all times while maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve technical issues on generators across multiple sites
- Service and maintain a wide variety of generator machinery
- Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently
- Complete job cards, paperwork and timesheets accurately and on time
- Identify and request required parts in an efficient manner
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain positive working relationships
- Supervise Apprentices when required, ensuring safe and high-quality working practices
- Follow all company procedures for repair and inspection of equipment
- Ensure personal tools and equipment meet safety and legal standards
- Adhere to company health & safety policies, ensuring safety of yourself, colleagues and customers
- Maintain a professional image at all times
- Use only company-provided lifting equipment (e.g., straps, trolley jacks)
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with in-situ generators
- Strong electrical and mechanical competency
- Experience working on fuel and control systems
- Confident working on large in-situ generators up to 2MW
- Comfortable lone working and operating without direct supervision
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and commercial awareness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong critical thinking
- Proficient in MS Office
