Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Class One HGV Driver to join our team and drive our fleet of heavy goods vehicles with professionalism and precision. As a Class One HGV Driver, you will play a vital part in maintaining our reputation for reliability and excellence in transportation services.
Examples of roles within our company are, but not limited to, container and general haulage.
The job is minimum Monday through to Friday tramping away all week. Saturdays and Sundays are available with enough notice.
Southampton docks experience preferred but not mandatory. If you do not have the experience, we will go with you to the docks on your first time.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class One Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), adhering strictly to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with legal standards
- Load, secure, and unload cargo efficiently, paying special attention to securing flatbed loads for stability during transit
- Plan optimal routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing fuel consumption and adhering to delivery schedules
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and records of all trips, including mileage, fuel usage, and cargo details
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly
- Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure personal safety and that of other road users at all times
Requirements
- Valid Class One (C+E) HGV license with a maximum of 6 points
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with delivery operations
- Strong knowledge of road regulations, safety standards, and best practices for heavy vehicle operation
- Experience with loading/unloading cargo on flatbeds and securing loads for transit
- Excellent driving skills with the ability to handle long hours on the road under varying conditions
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete paperwork accurately
- Good physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks when required
Pay: £180.00 per day
