West Berkshire Council is seeking an Information Governance Administrator to join our Legal and Democratic Service. Reporting to the Principal Lawyer - Contracts, Procurement & Information Governance you will play a key role supporting and contributing to the effective management of information governance processes.
The Role
As part of our dedicated team, you will be the first point of contact for enquiries related to information requests, such as Freedom of Information and Data Protection Requests. You will play a key role in processing and administering these requests, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and providing timely responses.
Your responsibilities will include:

Processing and administering Freedom of Information and Data Protection Requests, and other information requests
- Maintaining accurate records and databases related to information requests
- Providing administrative support to the Information Governance team and the Service
- Collaborating with other departments to gather information and ensure appropriate responses
As part of a small team, you will work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of information governance processes. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in information management, with support from experienced professionals.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong written communication skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a positive attitude towards learning
- Experience in an administrative role, ideally within a public sector or information governance environment
No prior knowledge of information governance is required, as training and support will be provided. However, a willingness to learn and a keen interest in information management are essential.
