Job Title: Mobile Caterer
Reports To: Operations Manager / Director
Job Purpose
To provide a professional, safe, and efficient catering service at a variety of locations and events. The role involves driving company catering vehicles, setting up and dismantling catering equipment, preparing and cooking food, serving customers, and ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and customer service are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Drive company catering vehicles to and from event locations in a safe and responsible manner.
Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects immediately.
Set up and dismantle mobile catering units, ensuring they are clean, safe, and fully operational before service begins.
Safely connect, operate, and disconnect gas and electrical equipment in accordance with company procedures.
Prepare, cook, and serve food to customers while maintaining high standards of presentation and quality.
Operate commercial catering equipment, including fryers, grills, ovens, and hot holding equipment.
Deliver excellent customer service, responding professionally and courteously to customer enquiries.
Handle cash and card payments where required.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the event, following cleaning schedules and food safety procedures.
Monitor and record food temperatures and complete all required food safety documentation.
Follow all allergen management procedures and provide accurate allergen information to customers.
Assist with stock control, replenishment, and storage of food and catering supplies.
Load and unload catering equipment and stock safely, using correct manual handling techniques.
Comply with all Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, and company policies.
Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, depending on business requirements.
Essential Requirements
Full UK driving licence.
Level 2 Award in Food Safety (or equivalent).
Environmental Health Officer (EHO) food hygiene knowledge and understanding.
Knowledge of food hygiene legislation and HACCP principles.
Good customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving catering equipment safely.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications
Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
Fire Safety Awareness training.
Manual Handling training.
First Aid at Work qualification.
LPG Gas Safety awareness.
Experience working in mobile catering, festivals, corporate events, or hospitality.
