Zen Educate is recruiting an experienced and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Hereford. This full-time role involves supporting children and young people with severe autism and complex needs, including non-verbal pupils and those who require personal care.

The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with severe autism and complex needs
- Lead a classroom team, including Learning Support Assistants
- Use Makaton and other communication approaches to support pupil engagement
- Create a calm, structured learning environment that meets individual sensory and behavioural needs
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual education plans
- Work closely with therapists, support staff, and families to support each pupil's development
- Support personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
RequirementsEssential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Secondary school teaching experience
- SEN school experience
- Experience supporting pupils with autism and complex needs
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach
Desirable
- Makaton training or experience
- SEMH experience
- Experience working with non-verbal pupils
- Experience supporting personal care
