Job Overview
Happy Tokyo is a sushi takeaway located inside Morrisons in Hull. We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and motivated team member to join our small team. Previous experience in sushi preparation is preferred, including skills such as rice preparation, sushi rolling, ingredient preparation, food presentation, and maintaining high hygiene and food safety standards. Experience preparing items such as maki, nigiri, inside-out rolls, and basic hot food items is beneficial.
Experienced kitchen staff with transferable food preparation skills will also be considered, even if they do not have direct sushi-making experience, as training can be provided.

Duties
- Assist with food preparation to ensure timely service and presentation standards are met
- Support the serving team by delivering orders efficiently and courteously to customers
- Uphold food safety standards by maintaining cleanliness and adhering to hygiene protocols
- Manage basic kitchen tasks such as ingredient organisation, stock replenishment, and equipment cleaning
- Delivery stock to additional locations in Hull
- Utilise basic maths skills for accurate order handling and billing procedures
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organised work environment throughout shifts
- Support team members during busy periods by sharing responsibilities as needed
- Assist with opening and closing procedures to ensure operational readiness
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence or CBT licence essential to assist with delivery of stock to additional locations
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience in sushi preparation, kitchen work, food service, or retail is preferred
- Basic understanding of food hygiene, fresh ingredient handling, and food preparation standards is beneficial
- Interest in Japanese cuisine and attention to food presentation and quality is an advantage
