Split Shift: Monday – Friday – WK 1 – 05:00 – 14:00 / WK 2 – 11:00 – 20:00
Salary: £31,000 to £32,000 Plus, a £140 per Month Attendance Bonus
Are you an experienced Transport Planner who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment? P W Gates is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our dynamic team at our Chester – Matrix site.
Role Overview
As a Transport Planner, you’ll be the heartbeat of our day operations — making sure deliveries are planned, drivers are supported, and everything runs like clockwork. You’ll manage daily delivery schedules, coordinate with our fleet, and keep communication flowing between the transport team and drivers. This role’s perfect for someone who’s organised, cool under pressure, and takes pride in precision and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
· Importing and processing delivery files accurately and efficiently.
· Planning and scheduling deliveries for the local fleet.
· Acting as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing support and guidance throughout their shift.
· Monitoring routes, adjusting plans to address operational issues as they arise and ensure all deliveries are on time.
· Maintaining accurate transport and delivery records and ensuring smooth handover to the Late shift.
· Ensuring all transport activities are carried out safely and in line with company and legal requirements.
Essential Criteria
· Previous experience as a Transport Planner, ideally within a logistics or haulage environment.
· Strong organisational skills with a proactive and logical approach to problem-solving.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· High level of attention to detail and accuracy under pressure.
· Ability to work independently and make decisions confidently during day operations.
Desirable Criteria
It would be an advantage if candidates also have:
- Familiarity with transport planning systems or scheduling software.
- Knowledge of local and regional routes.
- Prior experience working on night shifts within a transport or logistics environment.
