Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding families through the funeral process, ensuring that all services are conducted with dignity and respect. This role requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional service during a sensitive time, as well as the ability to manage various logistical aspects of funeral arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Meet with families to discuss their needs and preferences for funeral services.
- Prepare and file necessary legal documents, including death certificates and permits.
-Arrange pre-paid funeral plans.
- Coordinate transportation of the deceased, including arranging for the use of hearses and other vehicles.
- Conduct funeral services, ensuring that all elements are executed according to the family's wishes.
- Provide support to grieving families, offering guidance and resources as needed.
-Build and maintain a positive relationship within the community.
- Manage staff involved in the funeral service process, ensuring smooth operations throughout.
- Maintain accurate records of all services provided and manage inventory of supplies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the funeral home.
- Perform heavy lifting as necessary when handling coffins and equipment.
Requirements
- A diploma in Funeral Directing or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a funeral home or similar environment is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to empathise with grieving families.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required. This includes joining the weekly on call rota.
- Physical capability to perform heavy lifting tasks associated with the role.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing funeral services is advantageous.
- Live within 40 minutes travel to our offices or be prepared to relocate within this area.
- Be competent or prepared to train in use of office IT systems and audio/visual equipment.
