Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, experienced and enthusiastic Level 3 Deputy Manager/ Preschool Supervisor to join our welcoming and friendly childcare team. The successful candidate will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including a fully completed application form and an enhanced DBS check.
We are a private day nursery based in Purbrook, providing high-quality childcare for children aged three months to five years in a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment. We are committed to meeting the individual needs of every child while exceeding the expectations of our families.
This is a key leadership role within the nursery. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the daily running of our Preschool Room while supporting the Nursery Manager and wider management team with the overall operation of the nursery. You will be expected to lead by example, maintain the highest standards of care and education, and inspire and support your team to deliver outstanding practice.
The role is Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, and you will need to be available to work between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.
We are open 51 weeks of the year and close for one week over the Christmas period.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day running of the Preschool Room, ensuring high standards of care, learning and safeguarding are maintained at all times.
- Support the Nursery Manager with the smooth operation of the nursery and deputise in their absence when required.
- Lead, motivate and support a team of practitioners, promoting a positive, professional and collaborative working environment.
- Ensure the room is organised, welcoming, stimulating and safe, providing an enabling environment that supports every child's learning and development.
- Plan, oversee and evaluate high-quality learning opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Monitor children's progress, support staff with observations and assessments, and ensure all records, including school transition information, are completed to a high standard.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, ensuring effective communication and partnership working.
- Support staff through coaching, mentoring and role modelling best practice.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and all nursery policies and procedures are consistently implemented.
- Support the wider nursery team when required and be flexible in working across different age groups to meet the needs of the setting.
- Contribute to maintaining high standards throughout the nursery, supporting continuous improvement and preparing for inspections.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- A minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Previous experience in a senior early years role, ideally as a Room Leader, Supervisor or Deputy Manager.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- A thorough understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding legislation and child development.
- The ability to motivate, support and inspire a team to deliver exceptional childcare.
- Confidence in building strong relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- A positive, proactive approach and a genuine passion for providing outstanding early years education and care.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience as a Preschool Supervisor or Deputy Manager.
- Experience supporting staff performance, mentoring or supervision.
- Experience leading planning, assessment and transitions to school.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (preferred but not essential).

Pay: £31,600.00-£33,000.00 per year
