The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall operation and development of a football club's youth academy
Role Details
Key Responsibilities
Academy Leadership & Management
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the academy (U6-U12)
- Set the vision and direction for player development
- Ensure the academy reflects the club’s values and culture
- Manage and support coaching staff and volunteers
- Lead regular meetings with coaches to review progress
Player Development
- Design and implement a structured player development pathway
- Monitor individual player progress and provide feedback
- Support transitions between age groups
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environment
Coaching & Standards
- Ensure all sessions are well planned, safe, and engaging
- Support coaches with session planning and development
- Maintain consistent coaching standards across teams
- Encourage ongoing coach education and qualifications
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Ensure safeguarding policies are followed at all times
- Act as a key contact for welfare concerns
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all players
- Work closely with the club’s Welfare Officer
Administration & Organisation
- Manage academy schedules, fixtures, and training sessions
- Ensure accurate player registration and records
- Communicate clearly with players, parents, and staff
- Support recruitment of players and coaches
Club & Community Engagement
- Represent the academy within the wider club structure
- Build positive relationships with parents and the local community
- Support club events, trials, and open days
- Strengthen links with schools and grassroots networks
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience working in grassroots football or youth sport
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of player development principles
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Desirable
- FA coaching qualification (e.g. Level 1/2 or UEFA equivalent)
- Experience managing teams or programmes
- Knowledge of FA guidelines and best practice
- First Aid and Safeguarding certifications

Pay: £20.00-£30.00 per hour
