Teaching Assistants – Chelmsford & Surrounding Areas
We’re seeking caring, proactive Teaching Assistants to support our partner primary schools across Basildon and the surrounding areas. These roles offer an excellent opportunity to help pupils thrive while gaining hands‑on experience in education and SEND support.
Day‑to‑day, part‑time and full‑time positions are available.

What You’ll Do
- Support teachers in delivering adapted lessons and classroom activities tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEND, including autism and other complex needs.
- Use positive behaviour strategies to support pupils with emotional or behavioural challenges.
- Help organise classroom resources and maintain a smooth learning environment.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and encouraging atmosphere for all pupils.
- Observe and record pupil progress, sharing relevant information with teaching staff.
- Support pupils during break times, lunch periods and school activities as required.
- Follow all safeguarding procedures in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2024) and school policies.
What You’ll Need
- Experience working with children or supporting SEND is highly desirable.
- Understanding of autism, complex needs or behaviour support is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and a calm, compassionate approach.
- Relevant training (e.g., safeguarding, behaviour support, SEND) is beneficial but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS including Children’s Barred List on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to provide two written references, including the most recent employer and most recent school‑based employer where applicable (covering a total of 24 months)
- Right to work in the UK, photo ID and two proofs of address.
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and following safeguarding procedures at all times.
