We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a friendly mainstream primary school in Wargrave from September. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs on a one-to-one basis.
Working closely with teachers and the wider school team, you will help children access the curriculum, build their confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and socially. The school supports pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex learning difficulties, so you will need to be adaptable and able to provide tailored support to meet each child's individual needs.
The successful candidate will be confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour and will use positive behaviour management techniques to de-escalate situations calmly and effectively. Personal care may also be required as part of the role, and applicants should be comfortable providing this support while promoting each child's dignity, independence and wellbeing.
Requirements:
We are looking for someone with at least one year's experience supporting children or young people with SEND, although we also welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience gained in care homes, residential care, healthcare or other support environments. Patience, resilience and a caring nature are essential, along with a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Benefits:
The position offers a daily rate of £92.63. A full UK driving licence would be beneficial, as the school is located in Wargrave and can be difficult to reach by public transport.
