Krystal Technology UK Ltd is a specialist manufacturer of high-purity fused quartz and fused silica products, serving customers in demanding global markets including semiconductor, photonics, industrial and scientific applications. Operating from our manufacturing facility in Wallsend, the business combines a long heritage of technical expertise with a focus on innovation, quality and operational excellence.
The Allocation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the efficient allocation and movement of fused materials to support production schedules and customer demand. Working collaboratively across Production, Planning, Engineering and other operational teams, the role maximises material utilisation, maintains accurate inventory records, minimises work in progress (WIP), and provides timely information to support operational planning and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Allocate fused materials in line with the production plan, customer requirements and business priorities.
- Manage the movement of materials through Sage X3, ensuring all transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maximise material utilisation by identifying the most effective use of available stock, including the allocation of non-conforming or flawed material where appropriate.
- Monitor work in progress (WIP) and proactively identify opportunities to reduce bottlenecks and improve material flow throughout the manufacturing process.
- Maintain accurate stock records, including responsibility for designated stock locations and the completion of regular cycle counts.
- Produce accurate reports on material availability, WIP levels and post-fusion data to support planning and operational decision-making.
- Ensure planning data and system information remain accurate to support production scheduling and customer delivery performance.
- Liaise with Production, Planning, Quality and other departments to communicate material availability and respond to changing business priorities.
- Contribute to daily planning activities by providing timely and accurate information to support operational decision-making.
- Maintain departmental records, including SR49 and other planning documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving material utilisation, inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Provide support and cover for other planning and materials functions as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience within a production planning, materials planning, inventory control or manufacturing coordination role.
- Experience using an ERP/MRP system such as Sage X3, SAP or similar.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when processing data and maintaining stock records.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret production and inventory information.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across multiple departments.
- Proactive approach to problem solving with the ability to make informed decisions based on available information.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of production planning and inventory management principles.
- Understanding of work in progress (WIP) control and material flow within a manufacturing operation.
- Knowledge of fused quartz, glass manufacturing or similar production processes (desirable).
Pay: £28,000.00 per year
