The Role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Plant Fitter to join a busy workshop team based in Dartford, Kent.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity where you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and servicing a diverse range of heavy plant machinery and specialist equipment. You will use your technical expertise to diagnose faults, carry out repairs and ensure machinery remains safe, reliable and ready for use.
Working in a busy workshop environment, no two days will be the same. You could be carrying out planned preventative maintenance one day and diagnosing complex mechanical, hydraulic or electrical faults the next.

Key Responsibilities
As a Plant Fitter, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on a range of heavy plant machinery.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
- Identifying replacement parts and completing repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
- Carrying out inspections, servicing and general maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Accurately completing maintenance records and associated documentation.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- Identifying and reporting potential safety issues and contributing to a safe working environment.
- Ensuring machinery and equipment remains compliant, reliable and operational.
- Working effectively as part of a busy workshop team.
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, takes pride in producing high-quality work and is comfortable working in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, HGV Mechanic or similar.
- Experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Good knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Experience diagnosing electrical faults.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Good IT skills for completing maintenance records and documentation.
- A full UK driving licence.
Relevant plant, engineering or mechanical qualifications would be advantageous.
