We have a permanent vacancy for a Transit Driver within the Blackwood Area.

Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern large enterprise and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales.
What is a builders’ merchant?
A builders’ merchant is a company which supplies materials to the construction sector.
Up to 85% of the built environment you see around you is supplied by Britain’s builders’ merchants. Merchants and the supply chain are crucial to the construction industry which contributes over £40 billion to the UK economy each year. A career in this essential commercial sector can be challenging, varied and rewarding.
Hours:
40 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday 7:30am-4:30pm. No weekend working.
Pay:
Negotiable according to experience.

Duties:
- Delivering building materials in and around the surrounding area.
- Customer service - dealing with the customers in person.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Loading and unloading safely.
- Completing paperwork and record sheets.
- Manual handling
Essential skills:
- Clean driving licence (Class B) and at least 2 years driving experience
- A good understanding of metric and imperial measurements and basic mental arithmetic
- Good paperwork skills
- Confident communicator
- Proven teamwork skills
- Naturally tidy and organised
- Willingness to engage with customers and provide good customer service
- Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised once trained
- Reliable, industrious, adaptable and quick to grasp new concepts
- Manual handling up to 25kg
Desirable:
- Good knowledge of building materials and their usage
- An interest in the construction industry
