The Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Technical Account Manager to manage and develop one of Smurfit Westrock's key customer partnerships.
This is a high-profile role responsible for developing and delivering the customer Account Plan, identifying opportunities to create value for both organisations, and ensuring exceptional service, collaboration, and growth. You will act as the primary relationship owner and trusted partner to key stakeholders while coordinating internal teams across Smurfit Westrock to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
The successful candidate will be expected to spend a minimum of three days per week on-site with the customer, building strong relationships and driving strategic initiatives.
Main Duties
- Agree sales strategy for selected customers with Sales Director
- Meet targets as laid out in the Account Plan.
- Research, identify and win new business opportunities in accordance with this strategy
- Establish and develop relationships within the agreed customer(s)
- Learn and then apply value-based selling techniques to make tailored solutions to customer needs
- Work in conjunction with and provide support as required to the Sales Support/NPD function.
- This would mean working with the Smurfit Westrock tools, NPD processes remotely. Eg: entering NPD briefs artworks, pricing, etc.
- Regular production line walks to confirm products are running efficiently and action and improvements required.
- Manage any quality concerns to remove potential negative impacts.
- Active involvement in marketing and promotional activities within Smurfit Westrock site
- Provide market knowledge to ensure that all customer and competitor activities are brought to the management’s attention.
- Integrate CRM as part of the sales methodology and follow the Value Selling Process.
- Follow agreed company procedures and Health & Safety requirements (Smurfit Westrock & Customers)
- Continually looking at ways of improving business performance and developing systems
- Work towards the ‘Key Competencies’.
- Your job title does not limit your duties, and the Company may require you from time to time to undertake any other duties within your capability.
About You

Essential Knowledge & Skills include:
- Experience in Technical Sales or Account Management within a B2B environment.
- A proven track record of delivering sales results.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to analyse data and make informed commercial decisions.
- Good organisational, planning, and time-management skills.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach and ability to identify new business opportunities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good standard of education and understanding of sales and account management processes.
