An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming village primary school in a remote rural location in North Northamptonshire, starting in September 2026.
The successful candidate will work predominantly across Key Stage 1, providing valuable support to pupils and teaching staff. This is a varied role involving classroom support, targeted 1:1 support and delivering small-group interventions to help children make progress and develop confidence in their learning. For the right Teaching Assistant, this will become a permanent contract.
The Role
As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide classroom support across Key Stage 1.
- Work closely with the class teacher to support learning and pupil engagement.
- Provide effective 1:1 support for pupils where required.
- Lead and support small-group intervention activities.
- Assist with phonics, reading, writing and mathematics activities.
- Help pupils to develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
- Support positive behaviour and maintain a calm, inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Build positive relationships with children and encourage a positive attitude towards learning.
About You
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Teaching Assistant who has a genuine passion for supporting children.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within a primary school or similar educational setting.
- Good knowledge of the current UK Primary National Curriculum, particularly at KS1.
- An understanding of effective classroom support and intervention strategies.
- The ability to work confidently with pupils on both a 1:1 and small-group basis.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A patient, nurturing and encouraging approach.
- High expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour.
- The flexibility to work across different KS1 classes and respond to changing needs.
- Availability to start in September 2026.
