Join the UK's Best Rated Waste Management Company
We're not interested in average.
Divert is the UK's highest-rated waste management company, and we're growing quickly. With operating centres in Leeds and Birmingham, we're building a business that's setting new standards for customer service, innovation and reliability.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an exceptional Office Manager to become one of the key leaders within the business.
This isn't a traditional office manager role. You'll be responsible for leading our Customer Service and New Business Mobilisation teams while overseeing the day-to-day running of our Leeds office. You'll work closely with our Managing Director and General Manager and will often be trusted to lead the office when they're away.
If you're someone who enjoys responsibility, thrives in a fast-moving environment and isn't afraid to have difficult conversations when required, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll be responsible for ensuring our office operates professionally, efficiently and to the high standards our customers expect.
Your direct responsibility will be managing our Customer Service and New Business Mobilisation teams, ensuring they're delivering an exceptional experience every day.
Alongside this, you'll oversee the wider Leeds office, helping maintain high standards across every department, including Sales and Logistics.
Whilst you won't be responsible for sales targets or logistics performance, you will be responsible for ensuring everyone within the office maintains professional standards around attendance, punctuality, behaviour and overall conduct.
You'll also support our Birmingham operation, managing two direct reports based there and regularly visiting the site to build relationships, coach the team and maintain consistency across both locations.
Like everyone at Divert, you'll be prepared to roll your sleeves up when needed. During busy periods, you'll support the Customer Service and Mobilisation teams by dealing directly with customer enquiries and ensuring we continue delivering the service we're known for.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Customer Service and New Business Mobilisation teams.
- Manage the day-to-day running of the Leeds office.
- Support the General Manager and Managing Director with the overall operation of the business.
- Take ownership of attendance, punctuality, conduct and absence management across the office.
- Hold people accountable while maintaining a positive, professional working environment.
- Coach, motivate and develop your teams.
- Ensure new customers are mobilised efficiently and professionally.
- Support customer service during busy periods.
- Manage two direct reports based at our Birmingham operation.
- Visit our Birmingham site when required.
- Help drive continuous improvements across the business.
We're looking for someone who naturally takes ownership.
You'll already have management experience and be confident leading people from different backgrounds and personalities.
You'll be organised, proactive and able to make decisions without needing constant direction.
Most importantly, you'll be comfortable having honest conversations when standards aren't being met while still earning the respect of your team.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous management experience.
- Experience managing customer service or operational teams.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Confidence dealing with performance, attendance and behavioural issues.
- A calm approach under pressure.
- The ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- A positive, can-do attitude.
- A full UK driving licence.
We're a business that's growing quickly, and with that comes opportunity.
You'll work directly alongside senior leadership and genuinely influence how the business develops.
You'll join a supportive, ambitious team where hard work is recognised and good ideas are encouraged.
No two days are ever the same, and if you're looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference, this is it.
If you're looking for a career rather than just another management job, we'd love to hear from you.
