About Carrick Engineering
Carrick Engineering is a specialist manufacturer of stainless steel road tankers for the dairy, environmental and liquid transport industries. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for practical, proactive individuals to join our manufacturing team.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will work alongside our welders, fabricators and design team to build and repair stainless steel road tankers to an industry-leading standard of quality and finish.
The Role
We are looking for individals who enjoys a variety in their work, solving problems, and is keen to develop a wide range of engineering and manufacturing skills.
Previous tanker experience is not essential. We are more interested in people with the right attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to think for themselves.
Responsibilities
Examples of duties include:
- Sheeting tankers with 0.9 mm stainless steel, accurately measuring, marking and cutting openings for components such as manways and mounting pockets.
- Fitting and replacing trailer axles.
- Installing and repairing vehicle lighting systems.
- Assembling and fitting mechanical components and assemblies.
- Operating our 2026 Durma press brake to produce sheet metal components for the fabrication team.
- Installing pumps, motors, hydraulic systems and associated equipment.
- Completing finishing work including pop riveting, fitting trims and final assembly.
- Supporting repairs, modifications and refurbishment of existing tankers.
- Working closely with the design and fabrication teams to solve manufacturing challenges and continuously improve our products and processes
What We’re Looking For
- Practical engineering or mechanical experience.
- Ability to read drawings and accurately measure components.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of your work.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team while also working independently.
- A willingness to learn new skills across multiple areas of manufacturing.
Experience in fabrication, trailer manufacturing, agricultural machinery, HGVs, plant machinery, mechanical fitting or engineering would all be advantageous.
