ROLE: Maintenance Manager
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

The Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of all Hard Services Facilities Management operations within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The role provides leadership across engineering, maintenance, compliance, and service delivery teams, ensuring all activities are delivered in line with contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements. The Operations Manager is accountable for driving operational performance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement while maintaining a strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and asset reliability
- Lead day-to-day delivery of hard FM services including mechanical and electrical maintenance, critical utilities, and statutory compliance programmes
- Ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with SLAs and KPIs; drive a high-performance culture
- Ensure compliance with UK statutory regulations (PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, Legionella), GMP / GxP, and client standards; maintain audit-ready operations and support audits
- Monitor KPIs (PPM compliance, reactive response, asset reliability, customer satisfaction), identify gaps, and drive improvement plans using data insights
- Lead, manage, and develop teams; promote a “One Team” culture and ensure training and competency plans
- Manage client relationships, governance, reporting, and ensure requirements are understood and delivered
- Support P&L, budgets, cost control, subcontractor management, and identify value-add opportunities
- Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance; manage risks, incidents, and RCA
- Drive continuous improvement (Lean, reliability, reduction in reactive maintenance) and embed best practices
- Proven experience in an Operations Manager role within hard services FM
- Strong technical understanding of engineering maintenance and critical systems
- Experience in regulated environments with leadership and KPI management capability
Desirable:
- Pharmaceutical / life sciences experience
- GMP / GxP knowledge
- CAFM/CMMS and data-led decision-making experience
- Financial / P&L management experience
Qualifications:
- Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering, FM, or related discipline (or equivalent)
- Professional memberships (desirable)
- IOSH / NEBOSH (preferred)
