Maintenance Operative
Location: Housman Court
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week to include 30 minuet unpaid break daily.
Salary: £14.00 per hour

We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our dedicated team at Housman Court. You will play a vital role in ensuring our home remains safe, well-maintained, and comfortable for our residents, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general DIY tasks throughout the care home.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance in accordance with schedules.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritise urgent repairs.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, including fire safety equipment, water temperature monitoring, legionella and environmental inspections.
- Ensure the building, grounds, and external areas are clean, safe, and well maintained.
- Liaise with external contractors and oversee their work when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all documentation is completed correctly.
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly checks
- Complete monthly audits
- Support compliance with health and safety legislation, infection prevention procedures, and care home policies.
- Assist with room preparations and refurbishment projects as required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or building services role.
- Good all-round practical skills, including basic plumbing, Electrical, decorating, carpentry, and general repairs.
- A good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A friendly, professional approach with a commitment to delivering excellent service to residents and colleagues.
- Computer literacy, including confidence using email, Microsoft Office applications, and electronic maintenance management systems to record work completed, monitor maintenance schedules, and communicate effectively.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
On-Call Responsibilities
This role includes participation in on-call to provide emergency maintenance support outside normal working hours. The successful candidate will be expected to respond to urgent maintenance issues as required, ensuring the continued safety and wellbeing of our residents and the smooth operation of the home.
