Overview
We are seeking a professional and experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating lorries to deliver goods efficiently across various locations. Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 HGV lorries, including flatbed vehicles, adhering to all road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in optimal condition
- Load and secure cargo on trailers, ensuring it is properly balanced and secured for transit
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel consumption
- Deliver goods to various clients or distribution centres, maintaining professionalism and excellent customer service
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and mileage logs
- Follow all health and safety procedures during loading, transit, and unloading processes
- Report any vehicle issues or incidents promptly to the relevant department
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver.
- Valid Class 1 HGV licence with a clean driving record
- Experience with driving on different types of roads and in various weather conditions
- Delivery driver experience preferred, with a strong understanding of route planning and time management
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and compliance requirements for commercial vehicles
- Familiarity with securing loads on trailers and understanding of weight limits and safety standards
