· To offer choices, acknowledge Residents' rights.
· To plan food requirement and menus for The Home. Including ordering and budgeting.
· To prepare and cook foods according to the menu, residents’ wishes and establishment requirements, at all times ensuring a balanced diet and cater for special diets [e.g. diabetic]
· To propose changes to the ‘set menu’ for variety. These must be discussed with the Management and all staff to be informed of agreed change
· To ensure that food is used in date order and that all food is stored correctly according to manufacturer's instructions and EEC Regulations
· To maintain optimum standards of storage in the fridge, freezer and store cupboards.
· To always maintain a hygienic and germ-free environment,
· To avoid wastage.
· To abide by Food Hygiene Regulations at all times.
· To provide cakes and other ‘special’ items when required.
· To supervise other staff assisting in the kitchen.
· To clean or supervise the cleaning of all areas, cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave etc.
· To ensure that all crockery and cutlery is cleansed and correctly stored. Remember that the kitchen area is your prime responsibility, whereas other staff may have other duties to perform.
· To ensure the prompt disposal of waste food and products, placing them in the appropriate containers.
· To report to Management comments or information expressed by Residents in order to enable adjustments to be made as and when necessary.
· To be available to undertake any other duties applicable to the role of Cook.
· To ensure all Safe Catering paperwork is kept up to date.
· To co-operate and maintain good working relationships with all staff.
· To attend staff meetings and training sessions when appropriate.
· You must be aware and fully understand the Fire Procedures appertaining to The Home.
· To ensure the kitchen and food storage areas are clean and tidy.
· To assist in the removal of rubbish from the kitchen.
· To mop the kitchen floor and tidy kitchen at the end of the shift.
· To report to Maintenance /Manager of any items in need of repair.
· To perform all tasks under hygiene rules and COSHH regulations.
· To undertake other duties, as necessary.

Pay: £13.30 per hour
