Position: Assistant Gym Manager
Peak Fitness is a brand-new gym opening in Hailsham, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Assistant Gym Manager to become a key member of our management team.
You will work closely with the Gym Manager and owners to help establish the gym, implement high operating standards and deliver a first-class experience for our members.
As a new facility, this is an opportunity to join Peak Fitness at the beginning and help shape the way the gym operates.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Gym Manager with the opening and organisation of the new gym
- Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the facility
- Supervising staff when required
- Supporting staff rotas and shift cover
- Greeting and assisting members
- Conducting gym inductions
- Supporting new membership enquiries
- Helping with membership retention and customer service
- Ensuring gym areas are clean, organised and professionally presented
- Monitoring gym-floor standards
- Ensuring equipment is being used safely
- Reporting equipment defects or maintenance requirements
- Supporting health and safety procedures
- Dealing professionally with member queries and complaints
- Assisting with promotional activities and events
- Taking responsibility for the gym when the Gym Manager is unavailable
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Level 2 Gym/Fitness Instructor qualification or higher
- Ideally hold, or be working towards, a Level 3 Personal Training qualification
- Have previous experience within a gym or fitness environment
- Have excellent customer service skills
- Be confident communicating with members and staff
- Be reliable, organised and professional
- Be comfortable taking responsibility during a shift
- Have a strong interest in health and fitness
- Understand the importance of gym health and safety
- Be flexible regarding working hours
- Be able to reliably commute to Hailsham, East Sussex
Previous supervisory experience and a current First Aid qualification would be advantageous.
