James & Jenkins is a long established family run Garage business incorporating workshops/repairs , a fuel forecourt and Shop, as well as our Vehicle Hire company, Charter Vehicle Hire, with over 230 vehicles on Daily rental.
Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team at James & Jenkins. This role is vital in managing our financial records and supporting the Business to ensure growth and operational efficiency. Reporting to, and working closely with the Managing Director.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial transactions and ensure accurate bookkeeping using SAGE accounting software (at present),Journals, Bank Statements, Bank Rec etc.
- Prepare financial statements and reports to support business decision-making, inc Cash flow statements.
- Reconciliations and integration of three separate Profit centres.
- Oversee Debtors and Purchase Ledger processes and ensure timely payments.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Maintain compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Completion of 1/4 VAT returns
- Collaborate with management to optimize financial performance.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar financial role not necessarily in Motor industry, but would be of assistance.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft.
- Strong understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to mentor team members and work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of GB financial regulations is preferred.
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
