GROUNDS & MAINTENANCE STAFF
ROLE PURPOSE
This is a key role within the Grounds and Maintenance team, ensuring the school and grounds are maintained to a high standard. It is a very varied and interesting post that requires the ability to carry out general groundwork using various equipment, as well as general property maintenance tasks. It is essential to have a full driving licence, as you will occasionally be required to drive the school minibuses as well as the grounds tractors, grass cutters, etc.
This position requires discretion and sensitivity towards children, parents and staff. On occasion, the post-holder may be party to sensitive information, and it is vital that discretion and trust are implicit.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Groundworks – to carry out general duties in the school grounds, including grass cutting, strimming, leaf blowing/collecting, general gardening, hedge trimming, etc. Also, to service and maintain said equipment.
- Marking of Pitches – to set out, mark and maintain sports pitches throughout the year as required. Pitches to include rugby, football, cricket, and athletics track & field events.
- Maintenance - to include general repairs and renewals around the school, such as basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, etc.
- Vehicles – To ensure the school's motor vehicles are clean, tidy, and kept full of fuel for use.
- Miscellaneous - to undertake any general tasks, such as moving furniture and equipment. Dealing with external contractors when on site and ensuring our correct procedures are followed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- It is important that all members of the Beeston Hall staff are flexible and prepared to undertake other duties, as appropriate to the post holder's skills, to maintain the efficient running of the school.
- The post-holder will attend relevant training identified by the School to meet the School's requirements. It is expected that the knowledge and skills acquired from attendance at such training will be shared and applied within the team as appropriate.
- The post holder is expected to personally comply with the statutory provisions of health and safety at work legislation and School policy, and to always work safely and not to put themselves or others at risk.
- The post holder is expected to dress appropriately and wear the correct PPE provided by the School.
- It is a requirement that all employees of the School maintain the confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking their duties here.

Hours:
- 8 am – 4 pm Monday – Thursday
- 8 am – 3.30 pm Friday
- Rota to cover Saturday mornings (term-time only) 8.00 am to 11.00 am.
- 4 weeks' annual holiday to be taken during the school holidays in agreement with the headmaster.

Beeston Hall School aims to provide boys and girls, aged 4 – 13, with the best possible education. The school is set in 30 acres on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, just ten minutes’ walk from the sea and surrounded by 700 acres of National Trust land.
