Summary
Elm Tree Community Primary School is a warm, nurturing and ambitious special school dedicated to supporting children aged 411 who experience social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. Our pupils deserve patience, understanding and high‑quality support and we are looking for a committed Teaching Assistant 2B to join our team and help them thrive.

Each class benefits from a strong, consistent staffing structure, which includes:
- Class Teacher, HLTA, Teaching Assistant 3 and Teaching Assistant 2B
- This team-based approach ensures that every child receives the personalised support they need. As a Teaching Assistant 2B, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to build confidence,
- develop positive relationships and engage successfully in learning.
You will work closely with the class team to:
- Provide targeted support to pupils
- Assist with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using consistent strategies
- Help create a classroom environment that is calm, safe and nurturing
- Support pupils social and emotional development, celebrating progress and encouraging resilience
- Contribute to assessment, record‑keeping and communication with families and professionals
- Work collaboratively with teachers, HLTAs and TAs to ensure the needs of all pupils are met
What Were Looking For
- We are seeking someone who is:
- Compassionate, patient and committed to supporting children with SEMH needs
- Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Team‑focused, with a willingness to learn and adapt
- Positive, proactive and enthusiastic about helping children succeed
- Experienced in working with children (SEMH experience is desirable but not essential)
This is a term‑time only role. The post is paid for 45.25 weeks per year, which includes annual leave and bank holiday entitlement.
Actual salary: £19,810.42 £21,451.57 (based on term‑time‑only calculation)
