The Mercedes Formula One Team is seeking a passionate, driven and technically capable Structural Analysis Engineer to join our Structures group. In this role, you will contribute to the development of some of the most advanced, lightweight and performance-critical structures on the Formula One grid. Reporting to the lead structural analysis engineer, you will support structural analysis activities across key car components, helping to deliver innovative engineering solutions while developing your technical expertise in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. Perform structural analysis of metallic and composite components, supporting the delivery of lightweight, reliable and high-performance engineering solutions.
Contribute to analysis activities throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development through to validation and track support.
Develop and
Work closely with design, aerodynamics, vehicle performance and production groups to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Evaluate load cases, stress distributions and potential failure modes, providing clear analysis outputs and recommendations.
Support physical testing programmes and correlation activities to improve model accuracy and engineering understanding.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of analysis methodologies, tools and workflows.
Explore innovative structural concepts, materials and analysis approaches.
Ensure all work meets performance, safety and regulatory requirements.
Actively share knowledge and contribute positively to the wider engineering team.
You are an enthusiastic and motivated engineer with strong engineering fundamentals and a passion for solving challenging technical problems. You enjoy working in a collaborative environment, take pride in producing high-quality work and are eager to develop your technical capability while contributing directly to the performance of a Formula One car.
Essential Skills:
Engineering degree, 2:1 minimum grade or equivalent.
Experience in structural analysis within motorsport, aerospace, automotive or a similarly demanding engineering environment.
Working knowledge of FEA tools such as Abaqus, HyperWorks, FE-Safe or similar.
Good understanding of metallic and composite materials, structural behaviour and failure mechanisms.
Experience with linear analysis and an interest in developing non-linear analysis capability.
Ability to interpret analysis results and communicate findings clearly.
Experience supporting design development, validation or test activities.
Strong communication skills and ability to work e ectively within cross-functional teams.
Proactive, inquisitive and committed to high engineering standards.
Desirable Skills:
Experience working within rapid development cycles, ideally in motorsport or a comparable environment.
Exposure to structural optimisation tools, scripting or automation techniques.
Interest in race car structures, kinematics or vehicle dynamics
Experience contributing to process improvements or analysis method development.
