Due to continued growth, we are looking for reliable and hardworking Preparation Operatives to join our production team.
Job Summary
This is a hands-on role within our food preparation department. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients to specification, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting production operations to ensure daily manufacturing targets are achieved.
The role plays a vital part in ensuring ingredients are prepared efficiently, accurately, and to the highest quality standards before entering the production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and measure ingredients according to production specifications and recipes
- Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion vegetables, meats, and other ingredients as required
- Ensure all prepared ingredients are correctly labelled, stored, and rotated
- Follow all food hygiene regulations and safety procedures in line with HACCP requirements
- Prevent cross-contamination by adhering to company food safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, organised, and sanitary preparation area at all times
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory management of ingredients and raw materials
- Report damaged stock, ingredient shortages, or quality concerns to supervisors promptly
- Support production teams in achieving daily operational and production targets
- Safely handle equipment, ingredients, and materials in accordance with company procedures
- Use all PPE and safety equipment correctly at all times
- Support team members and supervisors with additional duties during the shift
- Help cover shift gaps caused by sickness, absence, or holidays where reasonably required
Requirements
- Previous experience within a food preparation, catering, or food manufacturing environment is preferred but not essential
- Basic understanding of food hygiene, food safety, and HACCP procedures
- Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and handle ingredients or supplies safely
- Positive attitude with a flexible approach to work
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Working Environment
Please note that this role involves working in a food production environment where strict food safety, hygiene, and quality standards must be maintained at all times.
The preparation department operates in chilled conditions to ensure product freshness and food safety. Appropriate PPE, including protective clothing, gloves, and safety footwear, will be provided.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a temperature-controlled environment and maintaining high levels of concentration and efficiency throughout their shift.
