We are seeking a reliable, proactive Kitchen Porter to join our dedicated catering team. You will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of food hygiene, supporting meal preparation, and keeping our kitchen running smoothly.
This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their catering career: we want someone eager to learn our kitchen operations, cover holiday periods, and work alongside our Lead Chef during busy service times.
Previous experience in a commercial or care home kitchen is strongly preferred.
About the Role
- Position: Kitchen Porter (Permanent)
- Shift Schedule: Thursday to Sunday
- Hours: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (20 hours per week, with potential for additional hours covering chef/kitchen holidays)

Key Responsibilities
- Washing up, operating commercial dishwashers, and keeping all kitchen areas clean and sanitised to CQC and Safer Food, Better Business standards.
- Assisting the Lead Chef with basic food preparation (chopping, portioning, managing dietary requirements).
- Storing deliveries correctly, ensuring strict stock rotation (FIFO) and temperature logging.
- Maintaining high personal hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
- Stepping up to support the chef during peak service times or covering kitchen shifts during staff leave.

- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen environment is highly desirable.
- Attitude: Reliable, hard-working, and willing to learn culinary skills on the job.
- Standards: Punctual, meticulous about cleanliness, and able to work calmly under pressure.
