Senior Health Care Assistant
Challenging leadership role as Senior Health Care Assistant working alongside colleagues to provide high quality care for the elderly.
You will be working nights 33 hours a week on 11 hour shifts and up to 44 hours when helping to cover holidays. Shifts run on a rolling 4 week rota with the team covering 7 days a week 365 days a year. The hourly rate is £15.23 with and additional 90p at weekends and we offer a further 90p per hour for overtime! £51.23 to 17.03 per hour.
This role can vary from quiet periods to busy and demanding times. From simple acts to help residents enjoy their life, for example offering some company and a cup of tea to dealing with incidents, health issues and end of life care.

As well as working with the team as a care worker in this hands-on care role, the senior position requires supporting the Registered Manager to support the night team; you will be providing supervisions and arranging meetings, ensuring everyone’s training is up to date, helping to complete rotas and being a supporting role model for others (detail below).

Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of residents’ care plans; Review and update care plans details including risk assessment where appropriate.
- Hands-on role working with residents and staff
- Coordinate with all staff supporting the team in their roles
- Help and enable smooth running shifts ensuring all routines are tasks are being completed
- Ensure all staff have sufficient time to complete their responsibilities including any care planning, training, and their specific duties.
- Organise and run fire drills (6 weekly for all staff minimum)
- Organise and hold staff meetings for night staff and coordinate with Registered Manager
- Aid the manager with Audits and spot checks as needed
- Take the lead with night staff rotas and holiday request for night care staff team
- Support incident de-briefs and follow up actions as necessary
- To support the manager in the formal supervision, including observational supervisions and appraise of staff performance.
- ‘Point of call’ for staff team to have support including concerns (incident reporting etc)
- Assist the manager keep up to date with all policy documents and current legislation regarding Westdale Care Home.
