Salary: £24,900 - £28,650 per annum
Location: Cambridge, Hybrid (2 days from home after initial training period)
Contract: Full time, permanent, 35 hours per week
If you're someone who likes keeping things running - picking up issues and getting them sorted - this role puts you at the centre of how our sites operate
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
You'll join the team responsible for keeping our Cambridge sites running day to day. It's practical, hands-on work where what you do has a clear impact - making sure people across the business can do their jobs without disruption, and that our spaces are set up to support them.
About the role
At its core, this role is about coordination - picking up requests, working out what needs to happen, and making sure the right people are involved.
Some days will be straightforward, clearing requests, booking rooms, updating records. Others will mean chasing updates, juggling priorities, or resolving issues that don't have an obvious answer. Either way, you'll often be the one chasing things along and making sure nothing gets stuck.
You'll work with colleagues across the organisation, as well as external suppliers and contractors, so you'll quickly build a strong understanding of how everything fits together behind the scenes.
In practice, that means you'll be:
- Managing the property helpdesk and shared inbox, responding to requests and deciding what needs attention first
- Coordinating maintenance work- assigning jobs, following up on progress, and making sure issues are resolved
- Working with contractors and suppliers, keeping track of visits, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Supporting admin and finance activity, including raising and tracking purchase orders and maintaining records
- Keeping accurate logs of work, suppliers, and site activity so information is easy to find and rely on
- Organising meeting rooms and supporting internal events when needed
- Helping manage on-site accommodation, including bookings and maintenance coordination
- Working with colleagues to resolve problems and improve how things are done over time
Please note: During your first 24 weeks, you'll be based on-site full-time to complete your training and get to know the team. Once we are satisfied your training is complete, there will be the opportunity to work two days a week from home, where the business requirements allow.
Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.
About You
You'll already have experience in a role where you've had to stay organised, manage requests, and keep things moving - even when priorities change.
You don't need to come from a facilities background, but you should be comfortable working in a role where you're handling a mix of tasks, speaking to different people, and learning new systems as you go.
We're looking for someone who can show:
- Experience managing a high volume of requests, queries, or tasks (for example in an admin, helpdesk, or customer-facing role)
- Experience coordinating work with others - whether that's colleagues, suppliers, or external partners
- Experience supporting administrative or financial processes, such as raising orders, tracking activity, or maintaining records
- Clear written communication, particularly when responding to queries or updating information
- Experience using systems or tools to organise and track
If you meet the above minimum requirements, we encourage you to apply. Your application will be even stronger if you can also demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
- Experience working with suppliers or contractors
- Exposure to procurement or financial processes
- Experience supporting room bookings, events, or site coordination
- Experience using structured systems such as helpdesks, maintenance, or similar
