Job Title: Part Time Admissions, Café and Retail Assistant

About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and visitor-focused Part Time Admissions, Café and Retail Assistant to join our team in a unique small museum environment. This is a varied, front-facing role where admissions, café and retail responsibilities are combined into one welcoming visitor hub.
You will be the first point of contact for many of our visitors, helping to create a positive and memorable experience while supporting the day-to-day operations across all three areas.
This role is for a minimum of 12 hours per week requiring weekend availability on a fixed term contract until Sunday 1st November 2026. Typical working days are from 09:30 to 16:30, and from 09:30 to 17:00 in school holidays. Pays up to £12.71 per hour. Immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities
Visitor Services & Admissions
- Welcome visitors warmly and provide information about the museum, exhibitions, and events
- Sell admission tickets and memberships.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Accurately recording visitor information for admissions.
- Respond to general enquiries in person and by phone
Café Operations
- Prepare and serve drinks and light food (e.g. coffee, tea, cake, sausage rolls)
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
- Ensure the café area is clean, tidy, and inviting at all times
Retail Sales
- Assist visitors with purchases in the museum shop
- Merchandise and restock products attractively
- Process sales and manage transactions efficiently
- Promote shop items and upsell where appropriate
General Duties
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shared space across café, shop, and admissions desk
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Support events, group visits, and special activities when required
- Follow health and safety procedures,
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable multitasking in a busy, shared environment
- Basic numeracy and confidence handling payments
