Vision for Education are currently recruiting for enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated individuals to join the National Teaching Assistant Programme (NTAP) in Basildon.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to start or develop a career in education and gain valuable experience working in a school environment. No previous Teaching Assistant qualification is required, making this an excellent route into education for candidates with the right attitude, enthusiasm, and passion for supporting children.
The Programme:
As part of the NTAP, you will receive practical training and support to help you develop the skills and confidence needed to work effectively as a Teaching Assistant.
You will learn about:
- The role and responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Behaviour management strategies
- Supporting pupils in the classroom
- SEND and supporting children with additional needs
- Working with children on a one-to-one and small-group basis
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff
The Role:
Once placed in a school, you may be expected to:
- Support the class teacher with lessons and classroom activities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support
- Help pupils stay engaged and focused on their learning
- Support children with SEND and additional learning needs
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
- Assist with classroom organisation and day-to-day activities
- Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment
- Work alongside teachers and other school staff to support individual pupils
SEND Experience:
The programme is particularly suitable for candidates who have an interest in supporting children with SEND.
Any previous experience with children who have additional needs, including autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, learning difficulties, behavioural needs, or social and emotional needs, would be beneficial.
You do not need to have extensive SEND experience. The programme provides SEN awareness training, while your school placement will give you the opportunity to develop your practical skills and confidence.
