A message from our Head of Technical
Foodpro manufactures frozen ready meals for major UK retailers from our BRCGS AA+ accredited site in Wigan, and we're proud of the standards we've built. Maintaining those standards isn't enough though – I'm looking for someone who wants to keep improving them.
You'll be running the day to day of the technical department, leading a team of seven Quality Assurance professionals, including 2 QA Supervisors, and making sure food safety, quality and legal compliance remain where they should be every single day.
This is a hands-on role.
Foodpro’s Technical Manager must be visible in the factory, know what's happening, support the team, build strong relationships with other departments and deal with issues before they become bigger problems. You'll be expected to make decisions, take ownership and be accountable for the outcomes.
You'll have my support, but I won't make every decision for you. I'll expect you to use your knowledge and experience, back yourself and lead with confidence.
What you'll be doing
No two days are the same, but you'll be responsible for:
- Leading the day-to-day operation of the technical department.
- Managing and developing a team of five Quality Assurance professionals.
- Maintaining our BRCGS AA+ standards and ensuring compliance with customer, retailer and legal requirements.
- Leading customer, retailer and third-party audits.
- Managing HACCP, internal audits, traceability exercises and technical investigations.
- Working closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing and NPD to resolve issues and continually improve standards.
- Investigating customer complaints, non-conformances and technical issues, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
- Driving a culture where high standards, ownership and continuous improvement are simply part of the way we work.
About you
- No sponsorship required to work in UK.
- A degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Technical Manager or Senior Technical role experience.
- Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, retailer standards and UK food legislation.
- Experience leading customer and third-party audits.
- Experience leading and developing Technical or Quality Assurance teams.
Pay: From £45,000.00 per year
