What does the average day look like?
This is a hands-on role at the heart of Network Rail's property portfolio, delivering a high-performing property service that drives estate optimisation, workplace strategy and financial value across Route Services, corporate functions, routes and regions.
Working in a complex stakeholder environment, you will identify opportunities to reduce costs, increase value and improve asset performance, while producing robust reporting for the GPA and DfT. You will provide trusted professional advice on the management and use of land, buildings and workplace assets, helping to shape strategic property decisions.
The role also leads the delivery of acquisitions, disposals and other property transactions through managing agents, ensuring the estate supports operational requirements while maximising commercial and financial outcomes.
Purpose of the role
To support the development and delivery of workplace and estate strategies across Route Services, Corporate Functions, Routes and Regions, helping create a safe, sustainable and high-performing workplace portfolio that enables the One Railway vision. The role will provide strategic insight, governance and reporting to support informed decision-making, estate optimisation and value for money across Network Rail and future GBR arrangements.
What will you be doing?
Workplace Strategy & Estate Optimisation
Support the development of workplace and accommodation strategies that improve utilisation, support business needs and deliver a more efficient, sustainable and integrated estate.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work collaboratively with Route Services, Corporate Functions, Routes, Regions, DfT, GPA and external partners to shape workplace solutions and deliver shared strategic objectives.
Insight, Reporting & Governance
Provide robust analysis, reporting and evidence to inform estate decisions, support governance requirements and demonstrate value and performance outcomes.
Portfolio Performance
Identify opportunities to optimise the workplace portfolio, improve efficiency, reduce costs and maximise value from Network Rail's assets.
Professional Property Advice
Provide expert advice on workplace, property and estate matters, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
Leadership & Influence
Build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, promoting best practice and a consistent approach across the organisation.
Continuous Improvement
Drive improvements in workplace data, processes, standards and reporting to support a more integrated and evidence-based approach to estate management.
Safety & Sustainability
Embed safety, sustainability and accessibility considerations into workplace strategies and estate decisions, supporting long-term organisational goals.
