Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener to maintain and enhance the large gardens within a residential home for the elderly. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for horticulture and gardening, ensuring the outdoor spaces are safe, beautiful, and welcoming for residents. This role involves working with various tools and techniques to sustain the garden's health and aesthetic appeal, contributing positively to residents' wellbeing and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and care for the gardens using hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems to ensure healthy plant growth.
- Prune, weed, mow, and trim lawns, shrubs, and trees to uphold garden aesthetics and safety standards.
- Plant new flowers, shrubs, and trees in accordance with seasonal requirements and landscape plans.
- Conduct routine landscape maintenance tasks such as fertilising, mulching, aerating soil, and pest control.
- Monitor plant health regularly and identify signs of disease or pest infestation for prompt intervention.
- Collaborate with staff to design seasonal displays or garden features that enhance the outdoor environment for residents.
- Ensure all gardening equipment is maintained in good working order and stored safely after use.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and safely.
- Knowledge of plant growth cycles, soil management, pest control, and sustainable gardening practices.
- Growing experience with a variety of plants suitable for residential gardens.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety standards.
