POSITION OVERVIEW
Multi-Skilled Engineer (Building Trades) – Carpentry Core
Uni Assist are currently recruiting a Multi-Skilled Engineer to support the delivery of planned and reactive facilities maintenance services across client sites throughout the UK.
This role is suited to an experienced engineer with a strong carpentry background (ideally Level 3 qualified) and proven competence across a broad range of building trades. Carpentry will remain the core discipline; however, you will be expected to perform additional trades as part of a mobile facilities maintenance service.
ROLE SUMMARY
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality planned and reactive works across multiple client sites. While carpentry will be a key part of your workload, the role requires strong all-round capability across the building trades.
This is a full-time, mobile role. A clean UK driving licence is essential as travel is required across a large operational area. A company vehicle, uniform, PPE, fuel card, and company credit card will be provided.
Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on client workload. This could range from a single night to a full working week, although regular working away is not expected. A stay-away allowance is paid per night, with hotel accommodation and a dinner allowance provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Carpentry and joinery works, including repairs, installations, and maintenance
- Kitchen installations and associated carpentry works
- Decorating works
- Tiling and flooring installations and repairs
- Plumbing works associated with building maintenance
- General building fabric repairs and maintenance
- Fire door installation, inspection, and maintenance (desirable)
- Completing job documentation accurately and on time
- Full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Delivering excellent customer service and keeping site contacts informed of progress
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
- City & Guilds Level 3 (minimum) in Carpentry or equivalent (essential)
- Level 3 Carpentry qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Proven experience in multi-trade building maintenance
- Experience with fire doors and fire stopping (desirable)
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety within a building environment
- Proactive and professional approach when working with clients
