Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Freelance Gardener to join our team, offering flexible working arrangements for outdoor landscape maintenance and horticultural projects. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about gardening and landscape care, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. The successful candidate will work independently, applying their horticultural expertise to various client sites, ensuring lush, well-maintained gardens and landscapes. This position provides an excellent opportunity for experienced gardeners to utilise their skills in a freelance capacity, contributing to diverse projects across different locations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance gardens and landscapes through pruning, planting, weeding, and fertilising.
- Use hand tools such as secateurs, spades, rakes, and hoes to carry out routine garden tasks efficiently.
- Operate power tools including lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers safely and effectively.
- Install and manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering of plants and lawns.
- Conduct landscape maintenance activities such as aeration, mulching, and soil conditioning.
- Assist with planting new flora, ensuring proper placement and growth conditions.
- Monitor plant health and identify pests or diseases promptly for appropriate action.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their landscaping needs and provide professional advice on plant selection and garden design.
- Maintain organised tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working order after each job.
Experience
- Proven experience in gardening or horticulture is essential; familiarity with landscape maintenance is highly desirable.
- Hands-on knowledge of hand tools, power tools, irrigation systems, and general garden equipment.
- Growing experience with various plant species and understanding of horticultural best practices.
- Previous freelance or independent working experience is advantageous but not mandatory; a strong motivation to deliver quality work independently is required.
- Ability to demonstrate organisation skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
