Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Bricklayer specialising in Pointing to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for expertly applying mortar and finishing brickwork to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. Your expertise will contribute to the durability and visual quality of various masonry projects, from new builds to restoration work. Responsibilities
- Prepare mortar mixes using hand tools and power tools, ensuring proper consistency for pointing work
- Apply mortar precisely between bricks, stones, or blocks to achieve smooth, even joints that enhance both strength and appearance
- Inspect completed joints for quality, making adjustments as needed to meet project standards
- Use masonry skills to repair or restore existing brickwork, matching the original style and materials
- Operate relevant equipment such as scaffolding, ladders, and roofing tools safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with team members including carpenters, roofers, and welders to coordinate tasks effectively
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during all activities
Experience
- Proven experience in bricklaying with a focus on pointing techniques within masonry projects
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as trowels, chisels, levels, and hammers
- Familiarity with power tools used in masonry and construction environments
- Knowledge of roofing, carpentry, welding, and other related trades is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding manual tasks over extended periods
