NVQ Level 2 Qualified Dispenser
Harris Memorial Surgery is looking for a motivated, patient-focused NVQ Level 2 Qualified Dispenser to join our friendly, supportive, and dedicated team.
As a successful GP dispensing practice serving around 6,500 patients across two practice sites, we are proud to be at the heart of our local community. We are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare.

Working alongside our GPs, clinicians, and wider practice team, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive their medication safely, accurately, and efficiently while providing exceptional patient care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Dispensing
- Dispense prescriptions accurately in accordance with legal requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and practice policies.
- Label, assemble, and prepare medicines for patient collection or delivery.
- Process repeat prescriptions in line with practice protocols.
- Respond to routine medication and prescription queries from patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure all dispensing activities are carried out safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and information governance requirements.
Stock Management
- Receive, check, and store pharmaceutical deliveries.
- Rotate stock and monitor expiry dates.
- Report stock shortages and discrepancies.
Patient Care
- Deliver a professional, friendly, and compassionate service to all patients.
- Handle patient enquiries efficiently and sensitively.
- Promote an excellent patient experience at every opportunity.
- Signpost patients to the appropriate member of the healthcare team when required.
Administration
- Maintain accurate dispensing and medication records.
- Support audits, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
- Attend team meetings, mandatory training, and continuing professional development activities.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required.
Person Specification
Essential
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent dispensing qualification).
- Previous experience in a dispensing role.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good IT skills.
- Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and information governance.
Desirable
- Experience working within a GP dispensing practice.
- Knowledge of SystmOne.
Physical Requirements
This role involves:
- Prolonged periods of standing while dispensing and managing stock.
- Frequent movement around the dispensary and practice premises.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of medication deliveries and stock.
- Working across both practice sites as required.

24 Hours per week
Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday
09:00am - 18:00pm (1hr lunch break)
Salary
£13.50–£14.86 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
