Care Assistant - £15.25ph - £20.00ph + 45p per mile
Otter Homecare is a small, family run company based in Trowbridge. We look after people in Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham, Westbury and Frome. We're registered with the CQC, and families give us 9.5 out of 10 on homecare.co.uk.
We're looking for Care Professionals to join us. Please note you need to already have the right to work in the UK, we are unable to offer any form of sp0ns0rship and cannot support any transfer requests. You must also have a full UK driving licence with access to your own car that you can use for work purposes.
Hours and shifts: We run two shifts, 7am to 2pm and 3pm to 10pm. You can do either one, full time or part time, and we've got bank work as well. We'd need you on alternate weekends.
There's usually a bit of give in those times. If they nearly work for you but not quite, say so when you apply and we'll see what we can sort out.
What you'll earn:
- £15.25ph - weekdays
- £16.75ph - weekends
- £20.00ph - bank holidays
- 45p a mile for your mileage
- £14.00ph while you're doing your induction and shadowing. You go up to £15.25 as soon as you're ready to work on your own.
- Paid holiday, a workplace pension, and a bonus if you refer a friend
What's different about us:
- Most visits are at least an hour, so there's time to do things properly
- We're small. You'll know everyone and everyone will know you.
- There's always someone in the office you can get hold of, including out of hours
- Care plans, notes and rotas are all on your phone in our care app. No paperwork to chase, and you know what you're walking into before you get there.
- We provide your uniform and pay for your DBS check
- Otter Stars is our recognition scheme. The team nominate each other for living our values, which are Kindness, Initiative, Learning and Teamwork.
Training, and where it can lead:
- You don't need experience. A lot of our best people came from retail or hospitality, or from looking after their own family.
- Your induction is paid, and you'll shadow someone experienced before you go out on your own.
- You'll have a buddy for your first few weeks, whose job is to keep an eye on you and answer all of your questions.
- We'll get you through your Care Certificate in the first three months.
- Our training is done in house, by our own team.
- After a year with us you can apply for a fully funded Level 3 diploma in health and social care.
- We have three Senior Care Professionals in the team, so there's somewhere to go from here.
What the job involves:
- Personal care, so washing, dressing and helping people get ready for the day
- Making meals and drinks
- Prompting or helping with prescribed medicines (once you've been trained and signed off)
- Helping people move about safely, and with any exercises the physio has set them
- A bit of light housework, and errands like the shopping or picking up a prescription
- Taking people out to appointments, the shops or just for a coffee
- Company and conversation, which matters more than people think it does
- Keeping an eye out for anything that's changed, and telling us about it
What we need from you:
- A full UK driving licence and your own car you can use for work purposes
- Availability for one of our two shifts, 7am to 2pm or 3pm to 10pm, and alternate weekends
- The right to work in the UK without sp0ns0rship
- Someone kind and reliable, who'd be happy for their own mum or dad to be looked after this way
How to apply - Apply today and we'll get back to you within a working day. If it looks like it might work, we'll ask you in for a chat.
