Job Summary
We are looking for a passionate, reliable and dedicated Italian teacher to join our growing educational team in the Leamington Spa area, working specifically with nursery-age children between 2 and 5 years old.
Our school is recognised by the Italian Consulate and works in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Education to promote the Italian language, culture and heritage within the local community.
Although we are a relatively new school, we are already building a welcoming, professional and supportive environment for teachers, children and families. Our aim is to create a strong educational community where teachers can share ideas, develop their skills and make a meaningful contribution to the future of the school.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, age-appropriate Italian language sessions for young children through play, songs, stories, movement, creative activities and interactive learning.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic early-years educator who enjoys working with nursery-age children and would like to help them develop confidence in Italian from an early age.
Contract and Commitment
The position is offered on an annual contract.

Main Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Italian language sessions suitable for children aged 2–5.
- Introduce Italian vocabulary and communication through songs, stories, games, movement, role play and creative activities.
- Prepare age-appropriate teaching materials, sensory activities and educational resources.
- Create a safe, positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
- Encourage children to participate, communicate and develop confidence in using Italian.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical and language development through structured play.
- Establish clear and age-appropriate routines that help children feel secure and engaged.
- Adapt activities and teaching methods to suit different developmental stages and individual learning needs.
- Support children with additional or special educational needs where required.
- Observe children’s participation and progress and maintain appropriate records.
- Communicate professionally and sensitively with parents or guardians regarding children’s progress, participation and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to develop activities, lesson content and early-years learning resources.
- Participate in school meetings, cultural activities and occasional events where required.
- Follow the school’s safeguarding, behavioural, health and safety and educational policies.
- Ensure that all activities, materials and classroom arrangements are suitable and safe for nursery-age children.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Native or near-native knowledge of the Italian language at C1–C2 level.
- Experience working in a nursery, preschool, early-years setting or similar educational environment.
- Practical experience working with children aged 2–5.
- An understanding of the developmental and emotional needs of nursery-age children.
- The ability to plan engaging, play-based and age-appropriate learning activities.
- A warm, patient and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
- The ability to maintain children’s attention through varied, interactive and creative activities.
- The ability to establish appropriate routines and boundaries in a positive and supportive way.
- A professional, organised and dependable approach.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider teaching team.
- A genuine interest in Italian language, culture and early-years education.
Experience teaching Italian is preferred. However, applications may also be considered from experienced nursery practitioners or early-years professionals who are native or near-native Italian speakers and demonstrate strong teaching potential, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
A relevant qualification in early-years education, childcare, teaching or a related area would be an advantage but is not essential.
Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, special educational needs strategies, paediatric first aid or safeguarding procedures would also be advantageous.
As the role involves working with young children, successful candidates may be required to complete the relevant safeguarding and enhanced DBS checks.
