The Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a Teaching Associate in the School of Engineering Mathematics and Technology (SEMT). This post is within our teaching pathway and so the focus of the post is delivering teaching and the associated administration. The post is funded for a fixed term period until 30th Sept 2027. The successful applicant will have teaching and admin responsibilities that focus on our Year 1 undergraduate teaching. We are particularly interested in applicants who can contribute to our teaching in Financial Technology. Alternatively an ability to contribute to our teaching in Artificial Intelligence or other degree programmes hosted by the school is of interest. Applicants should make it clear in their covering letter which degree programmes they could teach.
You will play an active role in delivering high-quality, innovative teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will supervise and assess research projects, provide personal tutoring, and contribute to lectures, laboratories and problem classes. The role holder will be responsible for teaching at levels appropriate to their specialism and may help to organise such teaching. Their teaching will primarily be on classes prepared by other members of staff, but there may be some opportunity to contribute to the preparation and development of classes. The role holder will be developing their competence in teaching and/or clinical/professional work over a variety of courses and settings. They are expected to plan their own activity, make a contribution to teaching and to course development discussions. They will be expected to act as tutor to undergraduate and, where relevant, taught postgraduate students.
You should apply if you have:

- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce and particularly welcome applications from women, people from minoritised ethnic backgrounds, and other groups currently under-represented in engineering. Flexible and part-time working arrangements can be discussed.
